SENIOR PASTOR
One of our deepest needs is for relationships- meaningful, caring, supportive relationships. We all have a deep seeded need to belong, to feel connected, to know that we are loved. It has to do with our creation. God created us for a relationship with Himself, with one another, and with all creation.
Sin severed those vital relationships. Sin separated us from God, broke our relationships with one another and alienated us from our true self. Through Jesus Christ, God broke the bondage of sin and opened the door through which these vital connections can be restored. As Paul wrote to the Corinthians, "In Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not courting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us" (2 Corinthians 5:19).
Our mission, here at Gardendale-Mt. Vernon is to help persons Restore their Vital connections:
Their connection with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Their connection with One Another in Christ like Love.
Their connection with the world in Christ like Service.
As these connections are restored, our lives find balance and wholeness. We begin to experience the life we were created to live.
We invite you to join us in restoring these vital connections in your life. Celebrative worship, prayer and study groups help us keep our relationship with Jesus a priority. Small groups, fellowship times and recreation help us build vital connections with persons who will share sorrows and joys. And through acts of service to our community and world, we experience what Jesus meant when He said, "Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it" (Matthew 10:39).
