GET INVOLVED!

So you feel God calling you to be part of our mission and outreach ministries?  Finding a place to serve is easy!  Depending on how God is leading you, you may choose any of four basic options: Give, Go, Pray, or Serve.

GIVE -- FAITH PROMISE MISSIONS

Because we believe that financial support of missions works best with a unified, systematic approach rather than many different appeals, all of our missions and outreach efforts are funded under the umbrella of our Faith Promise Missions Budget.  Faith Promise is a third-mile giving opportunity.  By "third-mile," we mean that we are following the Biblical model of giving: the first mile is the tithe, or the first 10% of the harvest, which goes to the "storehouse," the basic ministry budget of the church; the second mile is the capital funds giving, an offering collected above the tithe like that which King David collected for the building of the first temple in ancient Israel; finally, the third mile is comprised of those special offerings collected for the spread of the gospel, like those collected by the early churches for the Apostle Paul during his missionary journeys.

Each year, church members have the opportunity to make a one year commitment, in addition to their tithe and capital funds commitments, to Faith Promise Missions.  Commitments may be made for weekly, monthly, or one-time annual contributions.  It is called "Faith Promise" to remind us that we trust God to provide for such additional gifts and to celebrate the fact that when we extend ourselves in faith to support God's kingdom work, He does not fail to provide.  After the commitments are tallied, a Faith Promise Missions Budget is prepared that details how the money will be distributed to the various missionaries, agencies, and outreach activities that we support.

This year, the primary opportunity to make a commitment to Faith Promise Missions is during the Global Impact Celebration weekend, during Impact 2011.  Commitments can be made at any time, though.  Faith Promise gifts can be given online through the online giving module.  Just be sure to indicate that your gift is for Faith Promise.  If you wish to give online but do not yet have a username and password, email Debbie Moore, our Financial Secretary, at dmoore@gmvumc.org.

PRAY -- MISSIONS PRAYER WALL

In all of our endeavors, it is imperative that the Holy Spirit go before us and that our efforts be undergirded with prayer.  We need prayer warriors who will faithfully pray for our mission teams, our missionaries, and our outreach efforts.  To stay informed about specific prayer needs or simply to lift prayers of encouragement, visit our Prayer Wall and choose the Missions Ministry prayer tab.

SERVE -- OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES
