OUR MISSION

"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil.  For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help.  Again, if two lie together, they keep warm; but how can one keep warm alone?  And though one might prevail against another, two will withstand one.  A threefold cord is not easily broken."

Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12; New Revised Standard Version

God created us to be in relationship not only with Himself but also with one another.  This is evident in that, before creating Eve, He said, "it is not good that the man should be alone."  The second part of our mission at Gardendale-Mt. Vernon is to help people make connections to one another so that they may live in love and peace with one another through the grace of Jesus Christ.  Jesus prayed this for us, saying "I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one" (John 17:20-21.)  Together, we learn from each other, teach each other, celebrate with one another, and support one another.  We are one body in Christ Jesus.  We help to make these connections by providing for a variety of experiences through which individuals can worship, grow, and serve together.

Of course, the primary connecting point to the church is through worship.  We offer three distinct styles of worship through which persons can connect with God and with each other.  Early risers may feel more at home in our energetic blended-style SonRise Worship at 8:30.  Young adults or young families may find more connection points with the folks at our Crossfire worship.  Traditionalists will feel right at home in our 11:00 Sanctuary worship.  Visit one or all of them, and you will find a place to connect with others.  For more information about our worship experiences, visit What to Expect.

Beyond worship, we have numerous opportunties for fellowship and growth together.  Follow the links below to find the places and opportunities that will best help you to find a connecting point in the Body of Christ here at Gardendale-Mt. Vernon.
