PURPOSE OF THE UNITED METHODIST WOMEN:
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of missions through participation in the global ministries of the Church.
At Gardendale-Mt. Vernon, our United Methodist Women are organized into a number of circles that meet monthly for fellowship and spiritual growth. General meetings of the entire unit occur six times per year for the purposes of fellowship and planning the major initiatives of the Unit. Signature events in the life of the United Methodist Women each year are the Ladies' Tea and Auction held in the summer and the Soup Luncheon in the fall. Both of these events are principal fundraisers for the missionary efforts of the UMW.
To find out more about United Methodist Women or to learn how you can become part of a circle, contact Teresa Watson, UMW President.
