    Steve is a graduate of Athens State University and Memphis Theological Seminary. Steve has been in Christian ministry for over 26 years and is an Ordained Elder in the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church. Steve and Donna Joe came to us in July of 2017. They have one son, Matthew, a daughter-in-law, Mary Beth, and two granddaughters, Anslee and Addie. Pastor Steve’s passion is teaching and preaching the good news of Jesus Christ. Donna Joe has a passion for music and teaching children about the love of Jesus. They love to go camping and spend time with their family, and church family.

  • Jake Barrett

    Executive Pastor

    Jake is a graduate of University of Alabama at Birmingham and Memphis Theological Seminary. He has been in ministry for over twenty years spending much of that time in youth and worship ministry. Jake is an ordained Elder in the United Methodist church and a member of the North Alabama Executive Council of the Wesleyan Covenant Association. Jake has been married to Ellen for 16 years and together they have 4 children. Ellen works from their home primarly in the role of educator for their kids. As a family their passion is to see people discover just how awesome the Father is. Relative to ministry, Jake's passion is preaching, teaching and leading teams in ministry.

  • Mike Irons

    Pastor of Visitation

    Mike Irons and his wife, Pam,have been married for 37 years. Mike was born and raised in Florence, AL and Pam in Lubbock, TX.  They met and married while attending Asbury Theological Seminary. Mike retired in 2015 after 35 years in pastoral ministry. Pam retired in 2014 after 22 years in education. They have three sons, three daughter-in-loves and seven grandchildren. Mike is currently the pastor of visitation at here at  Gardendale Mt. Vernon UMC. Mike's other passion is spending time with his family.

  • Amy Sizemore

    Director of Children's Ministries

    Amy is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with her degree in Graphic Design. She realized soon after graduation, that God's plan for her life was much different than the plan she had!  Her passion is to help kids see the importance of a relationship with Jesus and help them understand the influence they can have in their communities, their schools, their sports teams and their families.  Amy's husband, Jamie, is her right hand man and can usually be found filling in somewhere!  When not at church, they can be found at the ballpark watching their kids, Mary-Grace and Bret.

  • Ian Sullivan

    Student Pastor

    Ian is a graduate of Huntingdon College with his degree in Youth Ministry.  Ian's wife Julia is a school teacher at Pinson Elementary and they love serving the youth together.  Ian sees Student Ministry as a family ministry and understands that parent support is a huge part of the success of his ministry.  In their free time Ian and Julia love to go hiking and antiquing!

  • Jim Jeffreys

    Director of Missions & Outreach

    Jim Jeffreys is Director of Missions and Outreach here at GMV. He is married to his wife Diana Jeffreys. They have 4 children and  12 grandchildren. Jim is from Atlanta, GA. He attended Middle Georgia College and Georgia State University. Jim served 6 years  in the US NAVY. He retired from Spalding Sports World Wide. Jim is a current partner with JCM Enterprises LLC. Jim enjoys lake activities, golf and building things. Jim has a heart for Missions and serving others with the Love of Jesus.

  • Kay Moman

    Director of Child Enrichment Center (CEC)

    God called Kay to Gardendale-Mt.Vernon 23 years ago to work as the Director of children's ministry. The church started an Outreach ministry, now called Child Enrichment Center, which Kay feels is an honor from the Lord to work and lead this wonderful outreach for Jesus. Kay's calling in this ministry is to make sure that children know the love of Christ at a young age so that when in need they will be able to call upon Him and know that He loves them. Kay has a wonderful husband Anthony. She has four children which have given her 9 grandchildren (1 girl and 8 boys). Kay's hobbies include quilting, crocheting, working in the flower garden and cutting grass with her John Deere (great time to talk with Jesus).
