OUR MISSION

|
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Acts 1:8; New Revised Standard Version
|
We are all called to be missionaries, ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and witnesses for Jesus throughout the world. For this reason, we make it part of our mission to connect people to the world through Christ-like service. We are all empowered for service by the Holy Spirit when we are saved, and at Gardendale-Mt. Vernon, we help our empowered people find the avenues for service to which God is calling them. We believe we are called to be an Acts 1:8 church, intentional in our missionary efforts to address three areas: Jerusalem -- or the community in which we live (Gardendale, Birmingham, and north Jefferson County;) Judea and Samaria -- our state and nation; and to the ends of the earth -- international missions. We make our connections to the world in a variety of ways.
| Outreach -- |
We have numerous opportunties for individuals to put their faith in action with "boots on the ground," so to say, by serving others in Jesus name here locally. We are always on the lookout for new avenues or needs we can work to meet.

Each year, several teams are sent from our church on mission trips to serve others in Jesus' name. |

We are dedicated to being in prayer for our missionaries, our outreach efforts, our mission teams, and the general spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the globe. |
